With support from A*STAR, a local enterprise software company, PD Solutions deepened its capabilities in advanced manufacturing, strengthening its ability to help its customers digitally transform their business.
Automated production scheduling for liquid concentrates
A*STAR scientists and PD Solutions experts developed an automated production scheduling solution using an off-the-shelf software application, for a beverage company.
The process being automated is the scheduling of the production of liquid concentrates, the most important step in the making of the company’s drinks.
The team wrote algorithms to improve resource allocation, maximize utilization and prevent bottlenecks in production. It also made the system agile so it could react swiftly and automatically to unforeseen changes in orders.
The new solution has helped the beverage company to raise the productivity of its manufacturing operations.
It has reduced the time and resources needed to fulfill a set of orders, saving costs for the form. The project significantly shortens the process in the beverage plant from days to minutes. It has also raised production volume by about 10 percent without adding more manpower.
